Advising Procedure for Undergraduate Students

1. Schedule an advising appointment with your faculty advisor.

2. Go to Degree Navigator at degree.ou.edu and log in. If you are unfamiliar with how to access your record, go to the College’s web site at ags.ou.edu, click on “ACADEMICS” in the left-hand column, and then on “Degree Navigator.”

3. When you are in Degree Navigator, click on “COURSE RECORD” in the left-hand column to confirm that your current enrollment is accurate; scroll down to the bottom of the screen to check your current enrollment. If it is not accurate, contact Assistant Dean Mary Anne Hempe at mahempe@ou.edu .

4. From the Course Record screen, click on “DEGREES/MAJORS/MINORS” in the left-hand column.

5. When the next screen comes up, find your major then click on the “AUDIT” icon to the right of it.

6. When the Audit screen comes up, go to the pull-down menu in the first gray box and click on “FULL REPORT.”

7. Pay special attention to every category beginning with “V,” the first three categories that begin with “N” and the GPA information at the end of the report. In each category, note the courses that have been completed, the courses you’re currently taking and the courses that remain.

8. For remaining courses, check prerequisites and when the course is offered (spring, summer, or fall).

9. Repeat this procedure to check on minors, second majors, and honors requirements.

10. Prepare a trial schedule for the spring 2010 semester (and summer, if needed); for fall 2009 you may still prepare a trial schedule online at enroll.ou.edu to check for time conflicts, however this information will not be able to be directly transferred to the new enrollment website in Ozone (you will have to load in your course selections there again). We strongly recommend that you also make tentative plans for fall 2010.

11. You can check previous advisements and notes from your faculty advisor under the “Manage Notes” section, which appears under your name.

12. We recommend that you schedule a degree check with Assistant Dean Mary Anne Hempe ( mahempe@ou.edu ) if you are currently enrolled in the third (junior) year of your academic program.

13. Meet with your faculty advisor to discuss the courses you will take in spring and summer 2010. Your faculty advisor will note his or her recommendations under the Manage Notes section, lift your advising stop, and provide any course OVERRIDES (formerly known as ESPs, or Electronic Special Permissions) you may need before you enroll.

14. To enroll:

a. Go to ozone.ou.edu and log in; click on the “ACADEMICS” tab at the top of the page.

b. Go to the “GET STARTED” section at the bottom of the middle column.

c. Click on “ADD or DROP CLASSES.”

d. Select an academic term from the pull-down menu and click Submit

e. If your enrollment window (now called a “Time Ticket”) is not open, you will see a page that will tell you when you will be able to enroll. If your window is open, you will be able to proceed.

f. To look up classes, click the BACK TO ACADEMICS tab link in the upper-left hand part of the page and the click on the LOOK UP CLASSES link.

g. If your enrollment window is open, you will see an “Add Classes Worksheet” and instructions for how to select classes and continue your enrollment.

Students in the College of Atmospheric and Geographic Sciences are very computer-savvy, so we are confident that you will quickly adapt to the new procedure. However, this is the first semester the University has used this enrollment system, so there are bound to be a few problems as we all adjust. Please notify Assistant Dean Mary Anne Hempe at mahempe@ou.edu with any difficulties you encounter.
